Maybe some of us might be aware on the importance of umbilical chord and cord blood. They are life savers as they contain stem cells which can be used to treat hematopoietic and genetic disorders.
Let me tie this to an important activity that happens in southern part of india (maybe its prevalent too in entire india - not sure though).
Whenever a baby is born, the umbilical chord is cut and a clip is put up in the baby's navel end with the umbilical chord part extending out. In a matter of few days the external portion will heal and fall off.
This is then taken to a goldsmith who in turn stuffs this into a small golden (or silver depending upon one's capacity) and seals them air tight (mind this air tight) using fire. this is then tied along with a thread and is generally worn around the hips of babies.
Maybe our ancestors knew that this part of tissue might help in healing some disorders for the babies. Who knows better than them. Many of us indians would have worn this without much aware of its importance.

Here is the calculation I came up with USCIS processing of our I-485 applications.
USCIS should allocate 140,000 applications in a fiscal year. So, in a month they need to process, at least, 140,000/ 12 = 11,667 applications.
Assuming that they have, at least, 20 working days in a month, they need to process 11,667/ 20 = 584 applications.
So, now the question is, how many employees does USCIS have and are dedicated to the I-485 processing? We don�t know the exact number. Considering that USCIS is getting lot of revenue, they should have, at least, 50 employees doing this work.
So, 584/50 = 12(Approx) applications they need to process in a day, per person.
So, do you think it is viable? Of course, it is�
What they need to process the I-485 application? They are not doing any FBI names check, or background check (Assuming that everything is done by other organization). So, how long does it take to review the I-485 application? Well, when I filled the application, it took me about 1 hour. So, to review it, let�s us say, it takes about 1/2 the time fill the application; that�s about half an hour. Considering the calculation that we made, it takes an about 6 hours to process 12 candidates. With this assumption, they still have 2 hours left to do miscellaneous tasks. Don�t they have enough employees (This shouldn�t be; an average Indian consultant company will have at least 20 employees!!). This is really a mystery. Anyways, if the USCIS really and whole heartedly wants to process the applications, they can; but they really don�t care about immigrants or their plights. :rolleyes:

This is kind of fraud. My previous employer was not ready to give me experience letter so one of my friend recommended same but I did not feel comfortable doing that ( not due to fear of USCIS REF ). Just recently I came to know from one of my friend that INS randomly checks with employers and verifies experience letters. So keep your fingure crossed.

Also I do not think you need experience letter at LC stage, but usually lawyer asks all these upfornt because they can advertise it as per roles and responsibilities performed by you. You still have time to talk to your lawyer and take that letter back. In meantime talk to your ex-employer or manager to issue letter ...

When I voted, It looked like to me that poll is started by IV, but not.
Though I like the idea of Quickness of a separate bill .. I appreciate how many steps / time / lobbying that would be required for such a step , after having followed the Forum for a long time.

We need to raise a million $. Anything less is seeming to just not cut it.
Look where we are now with our half-hearted efforts.
DOS says that EB3 would be retrogressed for the remaining part of the year. There was a time I used to believe that come year 2008, there is no way EB3 would be at 2001. I was wrong.
Today I think, there is no way the dates would be at 2002 come 2011.... but guess what.. its a definite possibility.
We need to do something substantial. We must equip IV with huge funds .. funds that will get us in bed with the right people.

Here is an idea: say we have roughly 500 members out of this vast array of 35000+ members who have the heart and the will to contribute. we get $2000 from each and place it in an escrow trust account that does not release money for expenditure unless we reach $1 mln
why? because the first 10 or 50 contributers are the most elemental in getting such a campaign off the ground and we need to give them a guarantee that its an ALL or NOTHING DEAL. If for some reason we stop at $10k because only 5 members contributed and no more are ready to contribute (unlikely), those 5 members can get their money back.
now is $2000 a huge amount?.. absolutely... but maybe we could tweak this amount or do some payback if we have more people stepping forward in excess of 500. and the amount of payback depends on how early your contributed to the campaign. The first 50 guys could even get a substantial part of their contribution back.

It has taken us some time to understand how the lobbying game is played.. but this time "Lets play to win"

Hi, I am in the same boat as you. Can you please provide your experience with filing the future employment I-485 and if AC21 is possible.
My question is: Can you continue to work for employer B while employer A files future employment I-485 and can we use AC-21 after 180 days without being employed with employer A?

Whats a good score for Immigration purposes on the IELTS. Looks like the scale is 1 to 9.

7-9 gives 4 points
5-6.9 gives 2 points
I (MS from US university and 6 yrs of experience, still they asked me) appeared for IELTS this saturday without any preparation, it is not that bad. Only thing you need to prepare is concentrate while listening and time management for reading and writing section. For speaking try to prepare about your home country and popular game in your home country.
It is very easy.
Just try to appear for this, as you all of us have already invested $ 1000.00 for canada filing. Another $ 140.00 would not hurt.

I have a question related to what you just answered. I am on h4 and my wife is on h1. We have our I140 was also approved. Our PD is in 2007, and right now PD date for EB2 INDIA is April 2004. Can I file for EAD before my PD date? and what is AOS?
My lawyer tells me I cant file for EAD till my PD date is current and I don't want to wait that long

If you have the i485 receipt notice, you file EAD by yourself. but to file i485 you need you PD to be current.

I understand your mother filed for I-140, but did she also file your I-485 and advance parole? If so, as soon as you get your AP, leave the country and return..as a Parolee. Then apply for FAFSA..
