Thanks for the update. Let me share my concern with the CIR. Do you think that someone (lawmakers) is going to officially vote for the CIR to die? I don't believe so. Discussions, debates, political bickering and fingerpointing can drag on for months and even years because no one is officially willing to kill it for obvious political reasons. How long do you think we (IV) can wait until we start pushing for other bills?

And to be honest, I don't know what happens if they simply choose to ignore us !! But I'm done with doing NOTHING. I need to let them know what I think.
On another note, it appears that the US has chosen to PRETEND to deal with immigration (legal and illegal) by endlessly proposing and killing legislation in Congress. This way they're throwing a bone to us (immigrants) while safeguarding their re-election (since they're not approving any kind of pro-immigration legislation, they aren't incurring the wrath of the almighty electorate).

Problem with that argument once you own more than 5% of the company you will have file as investor. If your wife owns the company then you will have file under relative category. There were denials based on this.

I git the I-485 Approval mail on 8/4/08 - but I have not recd any CPO mail or welcome PR mail - nor have I recd the notices in the mail -should Itake Infopass appt ?

I landed in Ca in Jan 08. my 485 pending. I had expired h1 when landing. I went for h1 stamping in Toronto during the trip. at the consulate you have to disclose you status in Ca. I told I just landed yesterday, and the officer congratulated me, and I got h1 renewed for 3 years (my h1 was renewed after my I140 was approved, but before I applied for 485 - so 3 yrs extn).
at the windsor border (drove by car), I even disclosed to guy that I landed in Ca. He did not say anything, but just asked to show my vehicle registration. Also he asked if I don't have to then live in Ca, I told him it's not necessary until after 3 years to maintian my residency there. He said Ok and let me in.
again it's better not to lie about you Ca pr, coz there's the landing stamp on your pp, even if you removed the document stapled on your pp.
again i've been to Ca twice since landing (with the doc staped on my pp). no problem re-enterin US.

That may be so but the number of those who choose to stay/would rather stay is overwhelming compared to those who don't ;)
I agree. Most people are risk averse & the decision to go back is a tough one. However, more people are considering that option now than ever before. And the ones that I know have gone back are pretty happy with their decision.

Talk about your scare of getting too many people with substandard MS degrees. Do you not realize that the companies in USA knows a different in good US school and Bad one - So in nutshell the people from bad school wont get job? Do you know that there is nature's rule - Fittest Survival... So in case you are fit enough and qualified enough to get a job then you will get one, it does not matter if you are from good or bad school....
Also, looking at your thoughts, it does not appear that you are MIT or Stanford grade material, so do us all a favor and keep your thoughts to yourself....

Are you aware of Avertising world rule that when someone does not like soemthing, they tend to tell at least 25 people about it, while when someone likes something, they might tell 1 person. In this case, this classic rule has applied beyond expectations because people who are calling are already racist who sit on their ass and expect all colored people to be their slaves and get things done for them. They want their mexican maid or indian computer programmer doing things for them but the moment they realize that these foreigners might get citizenship and be equal to them, they dont like that.... (and so do you)....So there you go....No wonder they pick up phone and dial....In any case, what better can they do?
We cannot reject numbersusa and other organizartion's ideas. As our people are suffering in retrogession some of their people and their families are impacted because of job loss in past. So we cannot tell that they do not have crediblity. They have some valid points also though some of them are absurd. But we need to understand them and try to elimimate their fears also.

I sincerely think that the reason why various immigration agencies are getting away with 'doing nothing' for Legal immigrants is because media does not discuss the backlogs in the immigration system. If we can focus on some really shocking statistics....data...and request some reasonable media personnel to discuss and take up as a story...it would be more helpful than all flower campaigns...and other forms of protests. I wrote to Fareed Zakaria today and you can do so as well. We can try other famous personalities on CNN such as Soledad O�Brien. If you know anybody on the Fox News side who might sympathize and investigate the issue, try them as well. Every media and politicians bracket us in the same group as illegals or fraud H1Bs...that image needs to change before something can happen...its absolutely bizarre and immoral in my opinion when the head of DHS cannot go to congress and say that there is an unfair situation for Legal Immigrants from India/China in the immigration system and she needs temporary assistance in fixing the system. Sec of State and Head of DHS surely have the authority to refer an unfair situation in the congress for a temporary legislative solution until the CIR is addressed.
