Based on current estimates, it will be 10-15 years time, unless u r son/daughter can sponsor you prior... u will end up in family quota wait still.

Hi forum users,
My wife is on h4 visa and we have found a volunteering position for a profit company.
Is it legal for people on h4 visa to volunteer (meaning not getting paid any type of salary) for a profit making company.
You may ask why we are doing this, if we dont make money, we are doing this to gain experience here.
So that once we get our EAD we can use it to work.
Does any one have any information about this. Because it is not a non-profit company it is a profit making company.
The field is not IT , it is drug and pharmaceutical related and is mainly bio-tech.

Is not it strange that IRS processed the tax refund before completing the ITIN processing? They could not confirm the current status of my wife's ITIN processing, as they could not pull out any details about the W-7 based on the information provided by me. They only guessed that it might be still undergoing processing. I wonder if they misplaced the W-7 form or something like that :-(.

Thanks guys for your support. Its not that I didn't want to contribute and I will definetely do it once I get my H1 visa stamped.
Status Update -
Manager is working actively on getting all the documents ready including detailed job description, requriements that were posted when I joined, vendor letter stating they cannot provide the master agreement with detailed duties. My client lawyers have asked the vendor not to share the master agreeement otherwise it will be a breach of contract, so there is nothing much my manager can do.
My company has already prepared a letter to show work schedule if I get out of work with current client.
So now I have almost all the letters that I have been asked for but I'm still not sure if I will get the visa without the master agreement. Do I have a choice?
What do you guys think?
How about your client directly sending the agreement to the cosulate through fax or whatever your client's attorney is saying (breach of contract) get it in writing or print out the email and submit as evidence with other supporting documents.
This is the exact reason we want to work more aggressively for 'Filing for I-485 when PD is not current'. You wouldnt have to be in this mess if you have EAD.

I am on F1 too and i recently went to India after we had applied for i-485. I used my AP and when i had asked in my Office of International education I was told that the moment i applied for i485 my F1 was cancelled.

DOS and USCIS are slow. But it would be really helpful if the IV code team can provide some update on our site. I believe over 2.5 hours have passed since the last update regarding some update in 1 hour. I guess we can't do anything if it takes more time but an update always helps! Thank you.

The USCIS declares an open period for all merit based application.
Everyone on H1-B puts in an application and gets in line.
The USCIS declares the list of succesful applicants.
For oversubscribed countries (remember that the country limit is 10% of 140000) there will be unsuccessful applicants who will have to apply next year.
Those unsuccessful applicants who reach their 6th year on H1-B cannot get any more H1-B extensions because they donot have an approved I140.
So it will be goodbye to professors in Economics and Business from India and China who will not get points for either STEM or high demand occupations.
I hope this make sense.

I was in exactly this position in 2002 and the appeal such as you suggest as second option failed and wasted six months.
I had to start the entire process again. The most frustrating part for me was the department of labor had assisted my employer with the advert and the alteration they made to the advert was the thing that screwed me in the end.
By virtue of the PERM system now you are really not going to lose all that much on your priority date and you could have another I140 filed before any appeal is even dealt with.

I am saying this without much research BUT I do recollect rave reviews about VDL Rao.
In past, Googler, Conshell etc. have done a good job of investigative journalism (name check memo and other critical updates). Discovering VDL rao would be blessing for some sort of hunch on Visa number availability. He has apparently commanded our respect.
Some guesstimate is better than utter confusion.
We need you Mr. Rao. Help us in our journey from darkness to light.... an eventual green light!
