My EB3 I-140 and I-485 (India) is pending from NSC my PD is Aug 2004.My wife is a citizen of South Africa she is also in H1B visa and derivvative of my I-485.Now it is possible for me to change the country of chargeability to South Africa, If possible can we able to get our GC in the month of March?

OK so we're 1 million in the backlog. That could be a small country.
Instead of spending hundreds of thousands on lobbying, we can just buy a piece of land somewhere (big enough to have a passport office building), get immediate citizenship in our new country and then USCIS will be able to process our GC applications within a year.
Someone from Taiwan (and smaller neighboring countries) can get GC in 1 year but if you're from China you will wait 6-10 years. I am not sure of how much cultural differences exist between these two countries, all I know is that my Taiwanese friend speaks Chinese, goes to Chinese church. So much for diversity.
So.. if anyone has the info on how to register a new country, I'd like to know.

Wanna know the fastest way to get a GC with no strings attached?. Apply in EB1 under "Foreign nationals that are managers and executives subject to international transfer to the United States". Here are the steps
1) Work as a Manager/CEO/CFO in India (or) any other country for 2 years with a company that has a branch in US.
2) Get tranferred to US branch of the company with the same designation and command a salary matching the prevailing wage for Manager/CEO/CFO at that location.
3) You are all set to apply in EB1.

My LC is still in process after auditing (EB2). My employer wants to 'drastically' cut back my salary due the national depression, which is particularly affecting the field my company is operating in (sub-primes). If he does that, and I accept it, is LC in jeopardy? We filed back in September 2007 with a certain salary and now it will be lower. Do we have to communicate the change to the DOL? And if yes, what will happen? Do we have to re-file? Thank you to everybody for all the info you can give me! Really!:(
For your H1b labor aproval the company has provided both the salary they are offering you as well as the prevailing wages for that particular job catagory. I dont think it is legal for the company to pay you below what was guranteed while hiring you, particulary as it goes against the basic requirement for H1b, which is to pay equal to or above the prevailing wages. Now due to economic depression, if the prevailing wages have decreased and the labor department has taken that into account maybe things might be different. See, the basic question is whether I can obtain a H1b worker promising 100K and later pay him 65k, citing general conditions like recession?

Well just to get away a bit from the complications of immigration!
Either the victim (who lost jwelery) has some animosity to you/family/your sister or your sister by her actions has given him/her reason to suspect her for the lost jwelery. Maybe your sister might have been a frequent visitor to that house? Or the jwelery was lost immediately after your sisters visit? First identify what prompted this accusation and then tackle it. Ofcourse consult a good attorney.
Even if the person acuses your sister, she is inocent until proven guilty and unless there is sufficient evidence there is no way your sister will be convicted by any judge/jury.
Lesson to learn; Don't get tooooooooo close to anybody. Helping is good but even with your relatives you have keep a certain distance and respect their privacy and territory. Indians tend to overlook this and often asume that they can enter into other people's lives, think for them and act for them. I just put together this info and also posted on another thread. PLease, please go through this and start setting up appointment with your lawmakers.
We have already set up/met with Reichert, Murray and McDermott. Pls help in setting up appointments with the others. You may have to leave a couple of voicemails before they get back to you: refer 1st para of the letter below.(total 30 secs/per voicemail ). Remember, they are very open to listeneing to you...you are teh future vote bank :)

Subsequent to rigorous but unfruitful recruitment efforts by our employers and other processing stages by USCIS, we still have to face prolonged wait times. It is also to be noted that most of us are already working in the U.S. for the past 5-6 years and are contributing to the U.S. economy in the form of taxes etc - some of which we do not derive any benefit from. This also hurts the businesses in your constituency like my employer because they have to wait indefinitely to hire talented applicants on a permanent basis. This is a very important issue and will determine whether the United States of America remains competitive in the fields of science and technology and retains the best talent from around the world.
ImmigrationVoice is a nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers who are suffering due to these delays and wish to bring this important issue in front of their lawmakers. I just called USCIS and confirmed with TSC and 2nd level customer service center that my case is approved on monday 09/01/09 SLUD date even though i have not recieved email for same.. Thank you all and good luck.

I'm in Chicago and will like to move to Atlanta area....Do you guys know how is the IT market (Architect, .NET) doing in this area? Looking at dice and computerjobs, i do see the same jobs getting repeated...Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated..
I lived in Atlanta for 4 years. The job market is just OK there. Not quite sure your reason for the move from Chicago, but if you are looking for weather and job prospects then, Dallas, TX could be a better choice. I maybe wrong but based on what I see - there seem to be more opportunities in the metroplex area

My Dear friends I need your valuable suggestion. I have decided and fixed my mind to return home after 8 years as I recently got laid off after working 4 years in same company. My EB2 LC was pending last three years Dallas backlog. My previous employer will mail me W2 to my India home address. I do not know how to file Tax from India. Do I need to buy Turbo Tax software before leaving home? You can understand my present scenario. Any kind input will be much appreciated.

You can start working on EAD now and wait for the H1 approval to come through.
WTF are you talking about, man??? It was said hundreds times: once one use EAD, h(is|er) H(1|4) is GONE!!! Per my lawyer, if you filed H1 extension before expiration, you are ok, in this case ext. filing date make sense.

You must ask the badge number and note down the time of each call. Then file a complaint if you are not satisfied with the customer service experience.
Once we have a proof of hundreds of such written complaints, IV can also follow up. We need people to file 'written' complaints in order to help improve the service.
I do not have any ID (She spoke that too quickly) but I know the time (8 am cst) and I am prepared to give the written complaint.

I am not in the IT field - and my data set is limited.
But based on conversations with some friends from my BTech batch, the range seems to be 22 Lakhs to 40 Lakhs per year. I went India to look in to salary costs on behalf of a VC firm last year and found most good programmers would cost more than Rs. 2Lakh per month. The survey was done in Bangalore.
Of course, these were individuals who could hit the ground running.

I agree that every single job loss matters and I support keeping jobs here where possible - unless essential.
Interestingly, jobs lost due to outsourcing are far less than other factors. Here is some interesting survey link:

The reason I posted it here is because the anti-immigrant lobby also views immigrants as supporters of outsourcing - which is not true because we look wholistically from an economic perspective. Also we are comparatively less emotionally charged about local issues, something that we should be more involved in to ensure comfortable assimilation for natives and immigrants alike.
