Hi,
My I140 was approved from TSC, and 485 sent to NSC (delivered on Jul 24, 2007). Still no receipt, but I140 has the LUD as Jul 28, 2007. Just hope that this means transfer to TSC on Jul 28. Any opinions?

Did you change your mailing address after you submitted your I-485?
Some time they correspond to your old mailing address even though you updated the address with USCIS.
Did you check with your Attorney? Is the correspondence address given is your mailing address or Lawyers? Some times Lawyers give their address for correspondence to USCIS.
These factors count where the approved mail goes to. I am sure you might have checked these before. If you over-looked these, then these may be the areas that you have to check on.
My 2 cents.

It seems he received the Approval Notice by post without the cards (same as me) on 8/18/08. So, the address should not be a problem.

I am trying to understand something here. So When we call TSC for FP they say it depends on local ASC. And I read from other posts on this and other forums that people who take infopass appointment for FP with their local ASC get a response that they have to call TSC for FP. So basically with Infopass , the local IO say to contact TSC and by calling TSC they say it depends on local ASC. What do we do now?

how do you track if the money order was cashed?
Check your money order receipts (or stubs) .Most of them will have official website (for instance western union) where you can track your MO .They will also provide customers with 24 X 7 toll free access number where you can check status.
You can also request photo copy of cashed MO but you will end up paying 12 bucks are more on each MO .Hope that helps...

Also, I just learnt (through this forum) about 'hold'. Senator Sessions had put a 'hold' (a non-written tradition needing consent to raise in the senate) on the Cornyn bill.
Is that only for the lameduck session? Or is it true in general? Can senators put a 'hold' on a matter in any senate session? If that is true, then Senator Sessions can never even let this matter come up in senate in 2007 (and after.)
I guess just a single drop of lime can spoil a litre of milk?

Hi All,
Me and my wife got our physical cards today. Buit the issue is my wife last name hasnt not been changed to my last name. It is still her maiden name. We have requested them while filing for I-485 with our marriage certificate.
We can still live with this but there SSn, Passport everything has been changed to my last name already. even has EAD card had my last name.
Any sugguestion as wat can be done. We r afraid were gettin our green card happiness will take a while now.

It seems that the delay was cause by the USCIS itself. It should have made known to applicants where to "correctly" send the application such as if your I-140 was approved in TSC, send your application to TSC. What happened was a lot of applicants sent their application to NSC, but was transferred to TSC. This cause a big delay in Receipting.
My application was sent to the right Service Center. Therefore, I believe, this resulted to my Receipt Notices being received according to the USCIS Receipting Update.

4)eliminiting career stagnation rules,

7)aside from eliminating name-check backlogs..,
8) aside from allocating one visa per family as opposed to one visa per person---.----you want them to change their internal system as well!
I understand the entire system needs an overhaul,but it would be great if IV acheives even one of the above agendas....

It is a good point that some people have brought up and I am sure IV core will evaluate it to see if it will help more people or less.
However.........
I strongly believe that family should be together. Whatever GC and other immigration issues we have, one should strive for keeping the family together at all times. Missing out on even a few years of togetherness with your spouse and kids is not worth it.
Even in the current system where dependents come under EB quota, I have known people where one spouse got the GC and the other one had to wait for many years because of a name check or something. But the current laws (EAD/AP etc) made sure that atleast the family was not broken up.
If we are looking for a change or correction of law, we need to make sure that the new law has NO kinks that hinder family staying together. If primary applicant gets a GC and the spouse is still waiting for 5 more years (it is possible), then the primary applicant can get citizenship and apply for a new GC for the secondary. Like I said - This situation is possible even in the current system.
As long as kinks are discussed with the lawyers and smoothened out to preserve family togetherness, it should be fine.

I will definitely call senator's office and talk and even take appointment. For me the senators nearest office is 150 miles drive one way. But I will do that.
The House representitive's office is less than half a mile's drive. But he is a member of Toncredo's immigration caucus and it is plain useless to talk to them.
The highlighted message is the key to the next step.
At most times you are likely to get such automated responses and message would be ignored unless backed up by lobbying effort. Each campaign is carefully crafted and the strategy is based on our ongoing lobbying efforts.This is why we ask for a focused message and followup instead of sending junk emails (from online petitions) and thinking our work is done after hitting the submit button. It is a waste of time and energy and misleads the community in what they should be doing to get attention to their issues. Sending email is just one tiny step towards the advocacy work. Next step is to call the office and follow up about the email. Tell them you are not satisfied with such a response on an important issue.
